Refined Wood Meets Steampunk Meets Geeky-Nerdy Lamp

alampI really dig this simple, yet refined lamp design by Erol Chandler. The simple triangle shaped lamp, made of hand-finished eastern walnut hardwood, features small Edison-style teardrop bulb suspended from the top of the a-frame and a red cloth cord with a two way dimmer switch is the original A-Lamp. Chandler has introduced other designs, including his O-Lamp, which are now available via his Kickstarter campaign.

THIS is a classy, geeky (and admittedly, a tad nerdy) lamp. It is well finished and combines the Edison style bulbs that are a favorite of steampunk fans with fine crafted and stained wood.

Geeks will love the mechanical toggle switch which blends ease of use with industrial design. The toggle features a 2-position dimmer, to boot. There’s a lot to love about these simple, elegant conversation pieces.

As of this writing, there are 12 days left on this Kickstarter and a few early bird options are still available.

Techno-geek LED Base Lamp Turns Your Geekery Into Light

baselamp1New York designer, Luke Kelly, digs lamps. He makes all kinds – but he’s crafted a special kind of lamp that fuses everyone’s need for light with a geeks need to have refined wood, heat sinks and LEDs that can dim – all in the same package.

Kelly calls his new creation Base Lamp and he’s launched a Kickstarter to get it into your hands. He demonstrates in the campaign’s video that you can use almost anything to be a lamp – but I think it’s far more than that. It is like museum lighting for your coolest keepsakes or mementos that you wish to display. Backers have the option to get a base in bamboo or American walnut. The lamps are manufactured in the USA.
