Shiny metal objet d’art geek out overload!

now available in wimpy magnesium-lithium

now available in wimpy magnesium-lithium

I backed this cool project by Forge Solid on Kickstarter because… well, because I had to have it. I wasn’t the only one, either. They had a $5k goal and it way over exceeded it to the tune of nearly half a million dollars! And I thought I was all alone in my obsession with shiny, well machined, metal objects.

So… what is this thing that I had to have, and that you might want as well? It’s a finely machined metal cube (insert Homer Simpson drooling sounds here). AND – it’s pure tungsten – none of that wimpy uranium – this stuff is really heavy – and without the side effects of glowing at night or premature sterility.

You can now pre-order your own through their site. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my cube… and I will share the unboxing when it arrives. 🙂

They now also offer a cheaper super-lightweight version – lighter than aluminum. The Magnesium-lithium version would be a nice contrast to the heavy Tungsten model on your desk to further freak out your fellow geeks.

Prep thy Christmas and Chanukah gift lists now… but you might want to put an extra liner in the stocking or brace the menorah from tipping. The 1/2″ cubes are very reasonably priced and quite the conversation piece.

Geeking out on this metal iPhone app stencil!

Big time geek drool for yours truly! This cool, cool, cool gizmo lets you quickly sketch out UI interfaces for your next app idea with pen/pencil and paper. This scratches my geeky drawing/architectural/design itch along with tech at the same time – and also the shiny, machined metal geek itch. I want to put margarita salt on this and lick it, it is that cool. They make equally sexy stencils for website development and more. Noms.
